SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- San Antonio's Audrey Rose Sasser celebrated her 108th birthday with friends, family and reflections on her longevity.

Sasser told the Express-News that she was "very blessed" to still be going with only some routine age-related maladies, such as high blood pressure and a touch of diabetes.

While she wears hearing aids, her eyesight is a remarkable 20/20 and still takes a daily walk around her retirement community.

Her diet includes oatmeal and coffee daily; however she avoids milk. She credits her active childhood in the days before television and video games for her underlying good health.

Sasser was born on a Louisiana plantation in 1898. She lived in rural Texas before moving to San Antonio when her first grandchild was born during the Truman administration.
