CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Two sisters from the Chicago suburb of Glenview have given new meaning to the term "sibling rivalry" by delivering babies within hours of each other.
Gina Lisowski, 34, beat her younger sister to the delivery room by 2 1/2 hours and gave birth to Peter George, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Patty Szafraniec, 32, followed with the birth of a baby girl, Madison Rose.
Both sisters were patients of the same obstetrician, Dr. Carrie Johnson, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
"It was a horse race," Johnson said. "One sister was (dilated) 5 centimeters, the other was 5 centimeters, I thought 'There's only one of me. I can't deliver them both at the same time.'"
The sisters' husbands turned the deliveries into a betting event with the loser buying hot dogs for the winner.
