FULTON, Mo., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A Missouri couple's garden gnome, stolen two months ago, has been returned with a letter of apology and 56 photographs of his travels.

The note said the gnome had been given a name during his vacation -- Edgar. Don and Karen Walker have examined the snapshots for clues to his travels and possibly his traveling companions, the Fulton (Mo.) Sun reported.

While the borrowers modestly stayed out of the pictures, Edgar has had a wide variety of experiences. Photos showed him in Area 51 at Roswell, N.M., at a buffalo farm, in the hands of a toll collector on the Kansas Turnpike and in front of a joint called the Boom Boom Cabaret.

"We've all seen those Travelocity commercials with the traveling gnome," the Walkers' daughter, Tonya Vollman, told the newspaper. "Well, my parents now have their very own traveling gnome."

Don Walker said he and his wife are not really eager to find out who kidnapped Edgar.

"Part of the fun is the mystery," he said.
