CHICAGO, June 21 (UPI) -- Hundreds of women painted their faces green and converged dressed as witches in a Chicago park for a chance at free tickets for the musical, "Wicked."

The producers of the hit Broadway musical offered 365 free pairs of tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who dressed up as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West midday Wednesday.

Organizers said about 500 hopefuls showed up, and those who didn't get tickets got show memorabilia, The Chicago Tribune reported. A group of Western Michigan University theater students had camped out in costume for about 13 hours to be first in line, the report said.

The priciest tickets for the show are $85.

The show is about two witches in Oz before Dorothy ever arrived to meet the Wizard of Oz. It tells how green-skinned Elphaba and a beautiful friend become friends and evolve into the Wicked Witch and Glinda the Good Witch.
