World Cup wives go on shopping spree

BADEN-BADEN, Germany, June 13 (UPI) -- While their husbands were preparing to hit the soccer field in World Cup action, the wives of England's team hit local German boutiques.

Six of the players' wives spent $5,5000 during a one-hour shopping spree Baden-Baden, the Telegraph reported.

Wayne Rooney's girlfriend, Coleen McLoughlin, spent the most money on designer items at Monika Scholz, the most expensive boutique in the area.

The women chalked up an additional $3,000 on shoes and shirts during a 10 minute period, then retired for drinks.

"I hope England plays well so they will stay longer." Peter Maalassa of Monika Scholz told the Telegraph.
