BALTIMORE, June 3 (UPI) -- Mary Sanford Williams graduated Saturday from Baltimore City Community College at 80 -- and now she plans to go to law school.
Dissuaded at an early age from being a lawyer, the former nurse's aide, mother of four, and grandmother of seven, is finally embracing her dream to practice law, The Baltimore Sun reported.
Only one-third of the way through her schooling, she has a long way to go but shows no signs of slowing down.
"She gave a very different perspective to some of our younger students, which was very valuable", a program coordinator at BCCC told the Sun. "She had a great attitude, and she really livened up class."
However, Williams was not planning to attend her BCCC graduation.
"When you get to be 80, there's only so much you can do," she said. "Besides, I'm in summer school already, so I'm busy."
