Rooster becomes 'mother' to 10 chicks

GUANGZHOU, China, April 20 (UPI) -- A rooster was caught behaving like a hen recently as he looked after 10 chicks in a village in China's southeastern Guangdong province.

The rooster not only protected the chicks from attack but also caught worms to feed his brood, China Daily reported Thursday.

The rooster's owner said she bought the rooster and a hen a year ago. But the hen refused to look after the chicks when they hatched, because she had started laying more eggs.
