LONDON, April 20 (UPI) -- The former chief of Britain's lottery corporation is launching a rival game which he claims has 27 times better odds of winning than the national game.

Tim Holley, the national lottery's former chief executive, said he worked for three years developing the Chariot game, in which tickets are entered into a first draw with a top prize of $175,000. If they do not win they go through to a second draw with a jackpot of $350,000. If no one matches all of the numbers, the prize goes to the player whose numbers are closest.

The Telegraph said 70 charities have signed on as recipients of the proceeds, and each week, five will receive a cut of the pool.

Chariot says it aims to raise around $2.5 million for charities each year with its Monday night draws, which will begin May 8.
