NEW YORK, March 21 (UPI) -- New York University tops the list of dream schools as selected by students while their parents chose Princeton as the university of choice for their children.

A fill-in-the-blank question asked students and their parents was "What school would they like to attend, or have their children attend, if acceptance or costs weren't issues?"

New York University came out on top of the students' responses, followed by Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Duke, Cornell and the University of California-Los Angeles.

After Princeton on the parents' list were Stanford, Harvard, Notre Dame, Duke, Yale, Boston College, Brown, Cornell and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
