WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Tim Russert's father took a part-time job to put his son through college, but the host of NBC's "Meet the Press" helped his son by taking him to games.
Luke Russert, a student at Boston College, told The Washington Post he and former Clinton campaign manager, commentator and frequent "Meet the Press" guest James Carville sat near the Russerts at Washington-area sports events.
The younger Russert and Carville often would debate loudly sports issues along generational lines and voila, a radio sports talk show was born.
Last week, Carville plugged the new radio program on "Meet the Press." Tim Russert was ending an interview with Carville and the Louisiana native noted that he was starting a sports talk show on satellite radio, the Buffalo (N.Y.) News reported Saturday.
"With anyone I know?" Russert asked.
"Maybe you would be familiar with someone I'll be teaming up (with) in this," Carville responded.
