INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A plan to feature the Indiana governor's mansion as the Decorators' Show House of 2006 has broken down because the decorators' plans were too showy.
Baboon print wallpaper was one example of interior design that did not pass muster with the governor's residence renovation commission, the Indianapolis Star reported. The group was thinking restrained and traditional, while the decorators were thinking the event was about showcasing their talents.
"This one year it was supposed to be about the home and not about the decorators," said Gov. Mitch Daniels.
The annual Show House event raises money for Wishard Health Services. But it will be scrubbed next year because there is no time to find a suitable house with a family willing to move out temporarily and let the decorators work.
Daniels and his family have not actually moved into the governor's mansion. They had been planning to make the move next year after renovations are completed.
