NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Two elderly sisters can rest easy in their New York brownstone through the holiday season without worrying about their nephew evicting them.

Angelina Visconti and Katherine Carmada, both in their late 80s and both widows, must return to Brooklyn Housing Court on Feb. 1.

"I want to be here for Christmas," Visconti told the Daily News. "It might be my last one."

Visconti and Carmada have spent most of their lives in the building their father bought a century ago. Until recently, they shared it with a third sister, Anna DeLeonibus, who was the owner. She died a few months ago, and her sisters say they got an eviction notice from her son, Joseph, the day of the funeral.

Their nephew wants to sell the house, which might bring a million dollars or more.
