Three kids charged with making fake money

GARY, Ind., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Three Indiana elementary school students were arrested for using fake money one student allegedly made on his home computer.

The U.S. Secret Service, along with Gary, Ind., police began an investigation after a cafeteria worker at Marquette Elementary School notified them of a suspicious $20 bill.

The Gary Post-Tribune reports the counterfeit bill was handed to the cashier by a fourth-grader.

Patrolman Greg Tatum, who works in the school, was notified and the 10-year-old boy gave up more fake money when confronted.

Two other fourth-graders were implicated in the scheme. Police confiscated $179 in fake currency.

The three were charged with forgery and theft and questioned by local and federal law enforcement officials.
