Text message scam runs up phone bills

ATHENS, Greece, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Five women and two men were arrested in Athens for allegedly running a text message scam that sent sexy messages to both men and women on their mobile phones.

Anyone replying to the the suggestive flirtations paid dearly.

Greece's Kathimerini news service said they were unknowingly charged $120 plus tax every time they responded by entering a four-digit number that connected them to a text message server in a building in the heart of Athens.

Police raided the operation and seized 27 computers and $7,500 in euros.
