Thanksgiving blood donors get pie

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Nearly 350 blood donors in Minnesota and western Wisconsin will take a break during Thanksgiving to donate blood and receive a free pumpkin pie.

The Red Cross will be collecting blood at its St. Paul, Minn., Shoreview, Minn., and Eau Claire, Wis., donor centers from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

The Thanksgiving blood drives have become a tradition and a generous way to welcome the holiday season, said the Red Cross.

Kowalski's Markets is providing the free pumpkin pies to blood donors at the St. Paul and Shoreview donor centers.

In Eau Claire, Festival Foods' bakers are whipping up the sweet treats for the blood donors.
