ENGLEWOOD, Fla., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A Florida woman who allegedly stole a rare parrot from her employer by hiding it in her bra boasted of her cleverness when she traded the bird for a car.

Unfortunately for Jill Knispel of Englewood the owners of the vintage Karmann-Ghia turned out to be friends of the parrot's owner, the Fort Myers News-Press reported. Knispel was charged with theft.

Knispel worked for Baby Exotic Birds, a pet store in Englewood. DNA tests proved that the greenwing parrot, a rare species worth $2,000, had come from the store and was the child of two parrots belonging to the man who consigned it to Baby Exotic Birds.

"The circumstances of the case are the most bizarre I've ever encountered," said Lenny Barshinger, an investigator for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation.
