TAYLORSVILLE, Ky., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Police in Kentucky say that a man who shot himself in the leg did so while setting up a booby trap for his marijuana plants.

Danny Walden of Taylorsville is now in the University of Louisville Hospital with a serious wound, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. He can expect to go straight from hospital to the Shelby County Detention Center once he recovers.

Police say that they found 37 marijuana plants in a closet at Walden's home, with another 78 in a crawl space. They also recovered four surveillance cameras and the state police Hazardous Devices Unit disarmed and removed a rifle booby trap.

Walden, who already has one conviction for growing marijuana, faces a second charge and a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
