KAPITI COAST, New Zealand, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- A singing chef will return to New Zealand from Italy where he fled after complaints about his voice.

Piero Damossa had been the singing chef at Cafe Riviera in Kapiti Coast for more than 10 years when he received a complaint from a noise control officer.

Damossa, who has produced two CDs of love songs in Italian and English, said he was crushed when he heard of the complaint so he moved back to Italy.

The incident was a mistake though.

The outside public address system was left on and the complaint was that the singing was too loud, not too awful.

Damossa said he will return to his job -- and even release his next CD.

Until then, patrons at Cafe Riviera will be stuck with karaoke.
