Smart led the surgical team at the Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton, England. He said production line minor surgery increases efficiency and cuts costs, by reducing the downtime to an absolute minimum, reported the Sunday Telegraph. Advertisement Patients drop their trousers, but kept their shoes and socks on. As they lie on a table, a local anesthetic is administered and the 15-minute surgery is completed. By dispensing with undressing the patient, or having him lie in bed with a cup of tea to recover, the time per operation is cut significantly, Smart said.
