LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Apparent vandals burned swastikas and obscenities on the lawn of a suburban Atlanta Jewish family, police say.

Also, eggs were thrown at the windows, trees were draped with toilet paper and someone defecated on the front porch of the Ragans' Lawrenceville, Ga., home.

Ginger Ragans told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution she believes the incident is in retaliation for her work as as the neighborhood liaison for the Community Oriented Policing program.

She said she had reported it to police as a hate crime. She said she is sure the vandalism is the work of neighborhood teens, retaliating against her for mentioning in the community newsletter that cameras had caught a lot of "unsavory" kids hanging around the tennis courts long after the county's midnight curfew.

Meanwhile, neighbors flocked to the Ragans home to assist in the clean-up.
