NORTHBROOK, Ill., Aug. 8 (UPI) -- It may not have been the most dramatic rescue but eight children stuck on a miniature Ferris wheel at a community festival outside Chicago were very happy.

The children were riding on the 12-foot-high Ferris wheel at the Northbrook Days festival, which ended Sunday. Some were hanging sideways and upside down in the stalled enclosed cars when firefighters arrived to free them.

"There was some crying. But there were no injuries," Northbrook District Fire Chief Dan Quinn told the Chicago Tribune.

The rescued children ranged from toddlers to 4-year-olds.
