BOSTON, July 20 (UPI) -- Boston University fired journalism teacher and ex-Boston Herald sports columnist Michael Gee for offensive comments he posted on a Web site, a report said.

Gee, hired in early July, wrote about an "incredibly hot" female student and worried about keeping his focus as a teacher when encountering her "to-die-for eyes," the Boston Globe reported.

However, Boston University Journalism Department Chairman Bob Zelnick read the comments on sportsjournalists.com and decided "we had to sever the relationship and sever it at once."

Gee apologized on the Web site, which had already removed his earlier posting.

"That post was pathetic, juvenile, and boorish. It's not me ... yet I said it and I'm deeply ashamed I did," Gee wrote.
