FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 19 (UPI) -- A wheelchair-bound thief, with the help of a couple of friends, lifted thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from a Florida gas station.

The Miami Herald reports that the thieves worked so smoothly that the owner of the BP/Amoco station near Fort Lauderdale was not aware he had been robbed until he went into his office. But the theft was caught by the station's security cameras.

The videotape shows a man in a wheelchair pushed by a friend. The two broke into the station's back office, using a large knife to pry open the locked door, and grabbed 158 cartons of cigarettes. The man in the wheelchair then used a cell phone to summon the getaway driver and the pair left with the smokes.
