NEW YORK, July 13 (UPI) -- Angry poker players are planning to set up games of Texas Hold 'Em on the front steps of the New York City Police Department to protest gaming crackdowns.

The "No Poker, No Peace" sit-down protest will involve players betting pennies per hand Thursday in response to two major police raids last month, the New York Post said.

Police arrested 39 employees and seized nearly $100,000 in cash from the Playstation and New York Players Club, clubs known for high-rollers and celebrities. Investigators said the clubs were illegally taking cuts of the bets, which players denied, saying they paid only a small entry fee.

Poker aficionado Ron Wieck told the newspaper said it was a ludicrous situation.

"You tell your wife you are going out to play some poker, then you come home and say some guys came in with guns and took the money -- and it was the police," he said.
