NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- A U.S. senator from New York is calling for a boycott of the video game "25 to Life," which centers on shooting police officers.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., called for a ban of "25 to Life," which is to be released by the British Eidos software firm in September.

"This is a sickening video game that offends all sensibilities," Schumer said. He also called on the manufacturers of PlayStation and Xbox, Sony and Microsoft respectively, to terminate licensing agreements with Eidos.

The game allows players to join street gangs, choose gang colors and use Molotov cocktails, broken bottles and baseball bats as weapons. When they exhaust their weapons, players make strategic moves using civilians as human shields, the New York Daily News said.
