WASHINGTON, June 2 (UPI) -- A 25-year U.S. Army veteran is suing the Library of Congress for withdrawing a job offer because he is undergoing a sex change.

David Schroer, 48, applied to be a terrorism research analyst at the library, and was offered the job based on his experience, the Washington Post said Thursday.

He is a former Special Forces commander who hunted terrorists and often briefed the vice president, defense secretary or Joint Chiefs of Staff on sensitive operations.

Once he accepted the offer, he mentioned his name would soon be Diane, upon completion of his sex change. He claims the job offer was rescinded the next day.

The American Civil Liberties Union of the National Capital Area is representing him in his case that charges sex discrimination and seeks the job reinstated.
