Phil Carroll sustained serious head injuries requiring brain surgery May 13 when he asked a group of teenagers to move away from an alley near his home. The group returned and began throwing stones at his Range Rover. Carroll was punched at least twice and knocked to the ground, The Sun reported. Advertisement "Phil Carroll, who celebrates his 49th birthday today, is said to remain in a poorly but stable condition," a Manchester police spokeswoman said. Carroll's wife and four children were at his bedside when he awoke, but have not made a formal statement. No arrests have been made in the assault.
