CLEVELAND, May 19 (UPI) -- Two Ohio libraries have a distressing problem -- someone has been using their collections for urinals.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports librarians at the Aurora Memorial Library in Portage County and the Geauga West Library in Chester have had to throw out urine-stained books with a total value of thousands of dollars.

Linda Yanko, manager at Geauga West, calling the problem "disgusting and appalling," said that librarians find new problems about once a month. At Aurora, librarians found the first soiled book about two years ago and have found new ones ever since.

Officials say they can discern no pattern. Investigators are also unsure whether the same person or group is responsible for the vandalism in two libraries, which are about 13 miles apart.
