LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- Three California brothers are banking on a market for a crunchy and sweet 10-year-old military ration, minus the camouflage packaging.

Christian, Mark and Paul D'Andrea of Los Angeles bought exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute the HooAH! nutrition bar, which is expected to hit the shelves of some 15,000 stores in June.

Along with soy protein, dried fruit, chocolate and 17 vitamins and minerals, the HooAH! bar is full of military tradition. The name itself is derived from the Army acronym "HUA" -- "heard, understood, acknowledged."

The bar was developed as a high-energy combat ration for Army Rangers and U.S. Marines almost a decade ago at the Army Soldier Systems Center in Massachusetts, the Washington Times said.

The brothers will donate a portion of the $2 retail price to Army relief programs and provide free bars for wounded soldiers.
