Bob and Karen Tosterud said the formula for "His Essence" is explained in Psalm 45. Advertisement "It's a Messianic Psalm referring to when Christ returns and his garments will have the scent of myrrh, aloe and cassia," said Karen Tosterud. They said they were curious enough to order the oils and then discovered the oils created a flowery, cinnamon smell. Karen then contacted a friend who makes candles. "And in October, we got our first batch of 768 candles. We had no idea how it would go," said Karen. However, once word spread, they sold more than 10,000 candles. "We wanted people to be able to experience Christ in new ways and to be able to read a bible and have that scent and that candle as a reminder that he is with us all the time," she said. The candles sell for about $18 at 150 stores around the country and online at www.hisessence.com.
