TORONTO, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Business was brisk at a Toronto restaurant Monday after news broke that a mysterious man had been handing out $100 bills there, the Toronto Sun said.

At least 15 people were dumbfounded when the man, described as tall, slim, casually dressed with short brown hair and a moustache, approached them Friday night and handed them the bills.

"He just came in and started giving out hundreds," said Melanie Loyer, a server at Kelsey's. "I tried to thank him but he just said, 'Don't thank me' and walked away."

Many of the recipients suspected the bills were counterfeit, but those who had them checked at banks over the weekend were pleasantly surprised.

"When I looked, the man was pulling $100 bills out of his wallet saying, 'Here you go, here you go, no, no, no,' as he decided who would receive the money," she said. "He was just cheerful and seemed to be enjoying handing out the bills."
