GREEN BAY, Wis., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A Pez collector in Green Bay, Wis., is expecting 30 to 35 fellow Pezheads, some as far away as Minneapolis and Chicago for a March 5 Pez get-together.
"Last year I was looking for something to do in between the annual conventions I attend, and knowing there was nothing in the area I took it upon myself to start something," Pez collector Bryan Lewis told the Green Bay News-Chronicle.
"More importantly, I wanted to start meeting people in the area."
Lewis has collected 425 Pez dispensers, including the Incredibles, Hello Kitty, the Muppets, Smurfs, and characters from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Pez Pals.
Pez collecting had been popular in the mid-1990s, perhaps after the "Seinfeld" episode on Pez dispensers, which drove prices up for many of the vintage dispensers, but interest has decreased over the last couple of years.
