HOBART, Australia, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A company that makes specialty writing papers in Tasmania has made a public appeal for donations of 450 pounds of kangaroo and wallaby excrement.
The "roo poo" will be used to create a new range of writing paper and cards in May, if the public can muster up enough of the rodents' output, Creative Paper Tasmania Manager Joanna Gair told the Tasmanian Advocate.
"We came up with the idea after reading an article about how elephant dung paper was a huge tourist product in Africa and Asia," she said. "I also discovered that in Scandinavia elk poo paper is the stationery of choice in most offices."
Gair said the new paper also instills a sense of recycling in children, as they realize "the bulk of our work has already been done for us because half of the fiber pulping has already been done."
She said the company won't turn up its nose at any offering.
"New or old, we'll take it all."
