CHICAGO, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- A Chicago firehouse will reportedly remain closed for several months to repair damage from an overnight fire that struck while firefighters were on a call.

Engine Co. 54, Ambulance Co. 14 and Truck Co. 20 were re-assigned after a blaze caused heavy damage at a South Side firehouse late Sunday night.

A pedestrian reported the blaze about 10:45 p.m. local time and firefighters from nearby stations extinguished the blaze in the firehouse's kitchen and day room, CLTV, a cable television news outlet, said.

No one was injured, but the firehouse is expected to be closed for several months.

"The companies are going to be re-quartered at various (fire) houses nearby," a deputy chief told CLTV.
