LONDON, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Britain's Queen Elizabeth reportedly had a good laugh at her own expense after trying to sit on a chair that wasn't there, The Sun reported Monday.

The royal disaster occurred Christmas Day at Sandringham Palace during the royal family's dinner, but just made public Monday.

Apparently the queen stood up from the table, and a footman assumed she had finished eating and removed her chair.

Elizabeth then attempted to sit down and landed on two of her pet Corgi dogs, the newspaper said.

There was reportedly a few seconds of mortified silence until the queen herself began laughing, followed by everyone else at the table.

"It was the talk of the palace," one palace source told the newspaper. "Even the queen thought it was hilarious."
