LONDON, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A British court has ruled in favor of disabled travelers in a case involving wheelchair service at airports.
Budget airline Ryanair had appealed a lower court's order that it pay $2,500 in damages to a man who was charged extra to use a wheelchair at Stansted Airport in London, Sky News reported Tuesday.
Cerebral palsy sufferer Bob Ross was charged $35 to use a wheelchair, while his one-way ticket cost just under $20.
Ryanair argued the airport charged Ross for the wheelchair push and that it should accept its responsibilities.
But the appeals court ruled Ryanair and Stansted are both responsible for providing wheelchairs for disabled passengers and concluded Stansted should share the liability because it discriminated against Ross.
