LONDON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The company Christmas party may end, for some, in the hospital emergency room, a British charity and a trade union association warn.

Photocopying parts of one's body runs the risk of getting glass in painful places if the machine breaks.

And dancing on desks also can end painfully, as office furniture is not as sturdy as tables in bars and pubs.

"The boardroom table is meant for weighty documents, not overweight executives," says the Christmas party checklist published by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and the Trades Union Congress.

The checklist even warns against putting up mistletoe, as this can lead to sexual harassment complaints, the BBC reported Friday.

"Some sensible safety precautions will allow people to have a great office celebration without having to call in the emergency services," said Roger Bibbings, an occupational heath adviser at the Royal Society.

In addition, festive hangovers could cost British firms more than $125 million in lost working hours when employees take time off to recover from Christmas party excesses, the BBC reported.
