MEXICO, Ind., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A Mexico, Ind., teen was arrested for allegedly robbing a gas station where his own sister was working behind the cash register.
Bryce Swihart and his accomplice, Anthony W. Dance, both 18, were charged Tuesday with armed robbery with a deadly weapon after taking cash from Swihart's sister, Kyla, at gunpoint at Owen's Marathon Gas Station, the Peru Tribune reported.
Bryce Swihart entered the store wearing a camouflage hunting mask and brandishing a chrome-plated gun, but his sister recognized her brother's voice immediately, the siblings' mother said.
"She didn't just hand over the money. She pushed him away and fought him. He put the gun to her chest and told her there was a bullet in the gun and pulled the trigger. She still hid some of the money from him," the mother said.
The stolen cash was eventually recovered by police. Swihart was being held without bond. Dance, who allegedly drove the getaway car, was being held on a $20,000 bond.
