WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- The newest canine to live in the White House -- a purebred Scottish Terrier puppy named Miss Beazley -- was fathered by a Clinton.
Miss Beazely's father is the American Kennel Club-registered Champion Motherwell Alberta Clipper, known by his call name "Clinton."
The White House pet was a post Election Day birthday present from President George Bush to his wife, Laura, and as a companion to the existing presidential pooch, Barney, also a Scottish terrier.
Clinton, the father of the puppy, was born on Election Day in 2000, and is owned by William Berry of Parsippany, N.J., and his 86-year-old mother, Marie Berry.
Barney's breeder, the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, gave Barney to Bush as an election victory gift in 2000.
The AKC said Barney was lonely after the death of his lifelong companion, Spot, the English springer spaniel born in the White House 15 years ago. Spot died last February.
