HONOLULU, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Agriculture officials in Hawaii said they have solved the mystery of who was the man with the snake who stopped at a Byron's Drive-in for lunch.

Snakes are prohibited in Hawaii and employees of the drive-in reported to authorities a man had a snake that looked like a python, reported KITV-TV in Honolulu.

The man told agriculture inspectors he found the injured snake on the side of the road, managed to put it in a plastic bag and then stopped for lunch.

He said he didn't immediately return the snake to officials because he said he wanted to show the snake to his family.

The man said the snake had been fighting with a cat, but agriculture inspectors said that doesn't explain why the snake had a gash on its underside.

The agriculture department said this was third python found in the state during the past few months and more may be out there.
