Homeland Security goes after toy store

ST. HELEN, Ore., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Department of Homeland Security agents infiltrated a small Oregon toy store because it was allegedly selling an illegal copy of the Rubik's Cube.

The joke turned out to be on the government, however, because the Rubik's Cube's patent expired, so the Magic Cube was perfectly legal.

Stephanie Cox, owner of Pufferbelly Toys in St. Helen, told the Portland Oregonian she first received a mysterious call from an agent in late July or early August. That agent made an appointment to visit Pufferbelly and then canceled. Eventually, two agents showed up in early September.

Once the agents revealed their business, they stood by while Cox removed the Magic Cubes from the shelf.

A spokeswoman for immigration and customs said protecting the country's economy is part of Homeland Security. But Cox thinks that the department was being a bit silly.

"Aren't there any terrorists out there?" she asks.
