DENVER, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A Colorado Republican who was stealing political yard signs when he fell and knocked himself out woke up to a court summons.
Randal Wagner, 50, had been trying to steal a congressional sign for Dave Thomas, a Democratic candidate, when he tripped on a low-slung chain fence and fell, knocking himself out, the Rocky Mountain News reported Wednesday.
Medics transported him to a hospital where he was treated for abrasions and facial cuts and issued a summons.
His wife, who was nearby driving the family's pickup truck last Wednesday night, has not been issued a summons, but a police reports quotes her as saying she and her husband "have never done anything like this (taking signs) before."
Wagner said that he and his wife, Jan, "want to apologize to the people" they have offended. Everybody has a right to express their political opinions."
