MANCHESTER, England, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The Church of England was planning Sunday to encourage wayward Christians to return to church with goody-bags and chocolate bars.

Churchgoers from 160 churches in the Manchester area were asked to invite a friend to services for a trial scheme, Sky News reported Sunday.

"Back to Church" posters have distributed for the event, as well as credit card-style invitations and goody-bags featuring a "missing you" emblem.

Back to Church Sunday has been backed by Co-op Supermarkets, which donated 3,500 chocolate bars for distribution at the end of services.
