DETROIT, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- The Detroit city demolition crew inadvertently may have provided a twofer by knocking down two homes -- a right one and a wrong one.

As a result, Robert Covington, owner of the 'wrong' home, is homeless and quite upset about his unwanted status.

The crew first knocked down a home, six houses from Covington's, that had been designated for the wrecker ball. Then for reasons known only to the crew, they apparently targeted Covington's, Detroit's WDIV-TV reported.

"One of my neighbors runs down and tells me, 'They're tearing your house down,'" said Covington.

Covington said he had the windows boarded up on his home because he was doing work on the inside of the house, Detroit's WDIV-TV reported Thursday.

When he arrived at the scene, it was already too late, Covington said. "They'd already put the bucket through the back end of the house."

A city buildings official said there was legitimate paperwork to demolish Covington's home. Covington said he has papers saying otherwise.

The department is, er, sifting through the paper rubble.
