LONDON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A British financial controller says a job search adviser told her to remove any mention of her child from her resume if she wanted a job.

Diane Winship, 35, was rejected by a string of firms before she went to a government Jobcenter, the Mirror reported Wednesday.

Once there a benefits adviser told her to make herself appear childless, at least on her resume.

"It never occurred to me that it was a problem. I'm so proud of my daughter," she said. "Now I've removed the information."

Asked to comment on Winship's claim that the Jobcenter told her to delete her child from her resume, a Home Office spokesman said, "There is no specific advice. It is left to the adviser's discretion."
