Bees attack Japan temple visitors

KYOTO, Japan, July 19 (UPI) -- A swarm of bees attacked visitors to a Japanese temple Monday, leading 12 people to be hospitalized.

The Japanese daily Yomiuri Shimbun reported that visitors walking up the path to Kurama Temple in Kyoto were stung one by one by a swarm of bees. Local police were called in to close the path off.

Most people were stung on the head, but no one suffered major injuries.
