HAIKOU, China, June 26 (UPI) -- A man in China, unfamiliar with group kite flying, didn't let go in time, became airborne, and then fell to the ground breaking his arm and legs.

Xinhua, China's main government-run news agency, reported Saturday the man, identified only by his last name of Zhong, had gone with friends to watch kite flying in the village in Wancheng Town of Wanning City, Hainan Province.

He joined other people in flying a 10-square-meter hexagonal kite and as the kite was flew higher, the people standing in front of Zhong let go of the kite string in an orderly one-by-one manner -- the correct technique for flying a big kite.

However, Zhong didn't know the technique, didn't let go and was suddenly pulled up to about 15 feet in the air before he let go, witnesses said.
