Dinosaur fossils turn up in police raid

PERTH, Australia, June 17 (UPI) -- Australian law enforcement officials found millions of dollars worth of dinosaur fossils and eggs in raids on three properties near Perth.

Officials found more than 1,300 fossils, including fish fossils from China believed to be up to 300 million years old, in Mandurah, south of Perth, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday.

Kevin Wohlers with the Department of Environment and Heritage said police conducted the raids after a request from the Chinese Government.

"It's a large seizure to be sure," Wohlers said. "The Australian Government is very pleased to be able to assist China with this seizure."

No charges have so far been filed.
