SKOKIE, Ill., June 9 (UPI) -- It's not as if schools haven't been auctioned online, but the recent online auction of a Skokie, Ill., high school was just a senior prank.

The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday Niles North High School "with full athletic facilities and many classrooms," was quite a bargain for its $14,000 bid on eBay.

"Included are several million dollars in slightly used electronic devices ... if bid goes over 5 dollars, will add state ranked chess team," the online ad said. "Faculty is not included with bid, but may be purchased at nominal cost."

A student, who did not want his identity known except by his eBay alias mattfish86, told the Tribune the auction was a joke, with all bids canceled with an e-mail saying, "Thanks for playing in the 2004 senior prank."

"It was an attempt to carry on the tradition of senior pranks without offending anyone or doing anything resulting in vandalism," said the student.
