'On duty booty' bruhaha hits SoCal police

CORONA, Calif., May 19 (UPI) -- Three California police officers were disciplined recently for having sex with women in their patrol cars, but none was fired or criminally charged.

KNBC-TV in Los Angeles said late Wednesday the racy scandal within the Corona Police Department was referred to by investigators as the "On duty booty" case. But attorneys interviewed by the station said it is apparently not illegal in California for police officers to engage in sex acts while on duty.

Corona Police Sgt. Jerry Rodriguez declined to get into the details of the embarrassing investigation and told KNBC only that "three employees were involved in serious misconduct."

Rodriguez noted the indiscretions did not appear to have delayed responses to any calls for assistance from the public.
